LG's Bendable G Flex

LG's flexible, bendable, and curved G Flex is officially coming to the United States. LG announced at CES that its incredibly uniquely designed smartphone will be available through AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile this quarter.

The LG G Flex is equipped with a 6-inch plastic OLED display and a bendable battery, that actually allows the phone to slightly flex when pressure is applied to the handset. Along with the unique screen, the device features a 2.26 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 MSM 8974 chip, 2GB of RAM, and a 13-megapixel camera.
On- and off-contract pricing for the American version of the LG G Flex have yet to be announced.

iPhone 6 with Massive Screen

Tim Cook won't talk about a larger screen iPhone 6, but Chinese consumers could be a major factor in a decision to go to a bigger screen. The iPhone 6 screen size will likely grow in 2014 as Apple pushes to compete with growing smartphone sizes in the U.S. and looks to offer an iPhone with a larger screen in China.
This week the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c launched on China Mobile, bringing orders in the multi-millions and spawning lines around buildings at China Mobile stores, including one where Tim Cook was on hand to sign autographs.
The iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c both feature a 4-inch Retina display with an 1136 x 640 resolution, while competing smartphones range from 4.7-inches to 5.9-inches with 1280 x 720 and 1920 x 1080 resolution displays.
Tim Cook won’t talk about a larger screen iPhone 6, but Chinese consumers could be a major factor in a decision to go to a bigger screen.
A 4-inch iPhone remains popular in the U.S. and appears to be an early hit on China Mobile, but as Apple goes Global and consumers across the world experience the benefits of larger screens there is more pressure for an iPhone 6 with a bigger screen.
When asked about an iPhone 6 with a larger screen at the China Mobile iPhone launch event Cook, issued the company line of not discussing future products, but teasedBloomberg, saying, “We have great things we are working on but we want to keep them secret. That way you will be so much happier when you see it.”
Even though Cook is not going to tell the world that Apple is working on an iPhone 6 with a bigger display, the move into China is good news for U.S. consumers who want to see an iPhone 6 with a 4.7-inch to 5-inch display.  Here’s why.

CHINESE CONSUMERS PREFER LARGER PHONES

According to Bloomberg, Apple’s marketshare fell in China as consumers shifted to cheaper phones, but large screen phones are also a factor to consider.
The HTC One Max is a top seller on China Mobile.
The HTC One Max is a top seller on China Mobile.
China Mobile could sell 10 million iPhones this year reports Bloomberg, citing analysts Tucker Grinnan of HSBC Holdings Plc and James Yan of IDC, but that is a drop in the bucket compared to the 190 million to 220 million phones China Mobile plans to sell this year according to the China Post.
HTC is aiming to sell over 20 million units in China this year with the help of four to six new smartphone models which could include a HTC m8 (HTC One 2) with a 5-inch display and the likely tag along of a HTC One Max 2. The HTC One Max already earned a spot on the best seller list in China as supplies ran short due to high demand, though the source did not reveal specific sales numbers.Data shows Chinese consumer preference is for larger screens.
According to China Internet Watch, Chinese consumer interest in large screen smartphones is on the rise with the majority of consumers preferring a smartphone screen 4.6-inches or larger.
When it comes down to the iPhone 6 screen size, there are many rumors and leaks which point to a larger display. From one of the first leaks which talked about aniPhone 6 prototype with a 4.8-inch display in December 2012 to a Wall Street Journalclaim that Apple was experimenting with screens from 4.8-inches to 6-inches in size, the rumor mill is focused on a larger screen. Rumors don’t equal facts, but with an entry to China there is more pressure to deliver an iPhone 6 with a bigger display.

For consumers in the U.S. this is also good news. The iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c that Apple is selling in China are essentially the same phones sold in the U.S. which means if Apple announces an iPhone 6 with a bigger screen, it should come to the U.S. as well.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Release Date, Features & Specs

Samsung Galaxy S5 Metal CasingThe latest speculated Samsung Galaxy S5 features include the support for passive stylus along with enhanced gesture recognition.
According to Android Authority, these two new features are all thanks to the touch controller that was rendered by Synaptics. Being one of the biggest suppliers for human interface solutions, the company has also been the supplier of touch controllers for the Galaxy Note 3 and the Galaxy S4 during the previous year.
The Korean news portal ETNews also added details that this new Synaptics controller will enhance the gesture recognition of the device and even bring forth the capacity of using the passive stylus not just to the Samsung Galaxy S5 but also to other premium devices of the Korean tech giant this year.
The Air View feature that permits users to hover fingers on the display to preview items before even opening them will also be improved by the Synaptics controller, Modern Readers mentioned. The support feature for the passive stylus also means that it can be used on the Galaxy S5. A good example of this is the ClearPad 3350 of Synaptics which was released alongside the accessories of the Google Nexus 5.
When it comes to its power source, claims came out fromSamMobile that the upcoming Samsung flagship phone will have a 2,900mAh battery. Reports say that it will have a Li-ion battery which can give way for 20 percent more when it comes to energy stored for the device. Besides, with all the powerful specs rumored to happen for the Samsung Galaxy S5 like the Super AMOLED Display, then all the more that the upcoming handset would need a much powerful battery.
Expert Reviews also mentioned a more exciting part of the S5 battery news and that is the inclusion of its rapid charging technology. This is the feature that will supposedly allow the battery to charge fully even just under a couple of hours.

Nokia Android phone’s user interface leaked

Nokia's rumoured Android smartphone is in the news once again, this time for its user interface. Twitter user EVLeaks has released screenshots detailing the customized UI of the upcoming Android-powered phone online. Earlier, it had released press renders of the model, while other sources had leaked live photos of the phone.

The screen panel in the left of the image shows the home screen of the phone, codenamed Normandy. The design is reminiscent of the Windows Phone 8 Live Tile layout, and features the resizable tile-shaped home screen shortcuts to apps; on the home screen itself, there are apps in three sizes. While all the apps shown in the screenshot are available on WP8 (Nokia's preferred mobile OS), the BBM icon in the photo confirms that the image is of an Android model.

The panel on the right is the Notification Centre, showing that snippets of text messages, photo gallery, missed calls etc will be accessible. The screenshot also shows that users will be able to access reminders, Skype and Facebook updates and other notifications from this panel.
Earlier, images showing Nokia Normandy covered in a jacket case and then without any body cover were leaked online. It is said that Nokia is using a heavily customized version of Android 4.4, with no access to Google Play and related services.
